Balsa
The Story
Balsa is a member of the mallow family. It grows extremely rapidly, up to 90 ft (27m) in 10–15 years. The speed of growth accounts for the lightness of the wood. Because it is low-density but high in strength, Balsa is a very popular material to use when model making and the very first models of Balsa Flatware were made using this versatile wood.
Deliberately elongated and slender looking fork heads and spoon bowls enable the diner to pick up smaller food portion sizes, this allows the diner to really think about the tastes and textures the chef has created.
